Histons Players Open Evening

The Open Evening is for anyone who is interested in joining or simply finding out more about us. Everyone is welcome whether you want to join, meet the actors you've seen on stage or simple say hello.

It will be an informal evening with plenty of opportunity to chat and get to know us a little. We'll tell you all about our society, how we work and what's involved.

We''ll have a couple of play readings and we will be encouraging visitors to join in the readings if they feel like it. We'll talk about the process of developing a play from the first readings through to the final performances. We are also going to perform a few short sections from recent productions to give you a feel for what we do if you haven't seen any of our shows.

If you are interested in joining, we are not only looking for people who like to be on stage but also anybody who'd rather work behind the scenes with set building, sound & lighting, props and all the things that are involved with putting on a production.

if you find you like to try acting, we don't do auditions as such, we always try to find a small part in our next production so you can give it a go. All we ask is that you make a commitment to coming to rehearsals on a Thursday evening — and of course learing your lines! We can help with that though. This thing about "am dram" is that it's fun to do, it's rewarding and can be great for confidence too.

There will be some refreshments on hand. We look foward to welcoming you!
